New Work: Stationery for Stash nails it

May 19, 2015 Wes Phelan

Last year we posted about beginning work with a new client, Stash Design. Stash takes upcycling to a new level, repurposing discarded scrap wood and metal into incredible artistic furnishings, and unique, stylish finish-out for spaces. Chances are, if you been out and about to some of Dallas’ hot spots in the last couple of years, you’ve seen their work.

Our relationship with Stash was initiated with a branding project, where we helped to craft a positioning line and identity for their company. We’ve most recently completed a stationery system that we think nails it. Using recycled paper (of course) we repurposed a collection of sketches and doodles from Gary Buckner, Jr., the creative genius behind the magic at Stash. Gary has been known to whip out a pencil during his meetings with potential clients and let his imagination get to work right on the spot. As you can see, the combination of Neenah Environment Desert Storm paper, Gary’s sketches, and a limited color palette resulted in a stationery set worth writing home about.

Dallas Society of Visual Communications Award Show: Our 15 minutes of fame

May 12, 2015 Wes Phelan

In June, the Dallas Society of Visual Communications (DSVC) will host the 2015 Dallas Show. Each year, agencies and individuals from all over the Southwest submit their best work to be considered by a panel of judges comprised of a handful of the best nationally-recognized creative minds. Categories cover everything from branding and ad campaigns to photography and package design. Judges select the entries that will make the cut for inclusion in the show, and then award medals to those pieces they deem as “stand out” work — hence this year’s theme, “Fifteen Minutes of Fame.” Of course, no one knows who will take home the hardware until the night of the event, but below are the Banowetz + Company accepted entries. Wish us luck and we’ll keep you posted.

New Talent. New Team Member: Senior Designer Ryan Bailey

May 6, 2015 Wes Phelan

The last few months at Banowetz + Company have brought about a lot of exciting changes. Most recently, Ryan Bailey has just joined our gang as a Senior Designer.

Ryan has six years of experience working on everything from print to interactive — and he hasn’t wasted any time in gaining professional recognition in such esteemed publications as Communication Arts, Graphis, Print and CMYK Magazine, and in the Dallas Society of Visual Communications award show. He’s a graduate of the University of North Texas (yay, UNT!), where he was also a rock star, winning several awards for his student portfolio.

With a passion for learning and great design, Ryan is enthusiastic and eager. Although he’s already established himself as a talent to be reckoned with — having worked on high-profile accounts like Dell, HP, Domtar, Travelocity, Dallas Marathon, Klyde Warren Park, and Turtle Creek Chorale — he’s an easy-going team player with a humble, down-to-earth persona. Ryan touts himself as a family man, enjoying his time off with his wife and daughter, and as a science fiction buff who also enjoys music and photography. We’re very excited to have him on board, and it’s already apparent he’s a great addition to our team.
