Masterpieces Old and New: Behind the scenes at the NorthPark Spring photoshoot

February 10, 2015 Wes Phelan

Banowetz + Company recently completed shooting the spring campaign for NorthPark Center, which showcases fashion’s top designers set against masterpieces at the world-renowned Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth. The fashions were shot in the stunning Louis Khan Building and the new Renzo Piano Pavilion, chosen to underscore the shopping center’s tagline “The Art of Shopping” and, because like NorthPark, the Kimbell is known for its commitment to making world-class art accessible to all.

Leon Banowetz and Sarah Terrell worked with a very talented team of New York and Dallas creatives and the lovely model Kate Bogucharskaia over the two-day shoot. New designs from Roberto Cavalli, Versace, CH Carolina Herrera, Gucci, Valentino and other top fashion houses were thoughtfully paired with pieces from the Kimbell’s permanent collection. The resulting images are a beautiful fusion of art and fashion, old and new — where color, texture and form come together to create something entirely fresh.

Over the next few weeks, the new campaign will be featured in a multi-page section in W and ads in PaperCity, FD, Modern Luxury, Indulge and Patron, as well as in a perfect-bound brochure which will be direct mailed. In the meantime, enjoy a few of our favorite shots and a short trip to the Kimbell via a video documentation of what went on behind the scenes.

Recent Work: Sparkling New Catalog

January 20, 2015 Wes Phelan

Before wrapping up 2014, Banowetz + Company had the pleasure of working on the annual jewelry catalog for our long-time client Eiseman Jewels. Each year, just prior to the holiday season, we create a showpiece featuring Eiseman’s top designers to be mailed to their clientele and affluent areas throughout DFW.

This year’s piece featured the additions of jewelry and timepiece designers new to Eiseman, including such names as Oromalia, Gucci, Roberto Coin, Audemars Piguet and IWC Schaffhausen. Best Press printed the forty-page perfect-bound book.  Below are some sample pages for your viewing — and shopping — enjoyment.

Candid Camper Logo: A snapshot of recent work

October 28, 2014 Wes Phelan
CndidCmpr_BlogPostHeader.jpg

Over the last several months, we’ve had a great time working with the talented guys over at Stash Design. (You may recall our blog about them last year.) They are responsible for the design of several Dallas hot spots such as Oddfellows, Bar Belmont and Chicken Scratch, and if you’ve visited any of these establishments, you’ve seen the results of their creativity in the interior design and finish out. Well, being the innovators they are, they came to us with a unique naming and branding project for a mobile photobooth, which they created using a re-purposed mid-century camper. Uh, fun! Not only is the photobooth itself incredible — the exterior is completely covered in patina-ed copper and the interior in reclaimed wood — but we love the concept as well. It will get great exposure being parked at special events, weddings, parties and happenings around town.

The client chose our proposed name, “Candid Camper”, which we think is perfect given the playful nature of the filmstrip-style photos and the fact that it is, well, a camper. We also just finalized the branding — take a peek at the options we proposed and the selected winner below. It was a fun project to work on, given the myriad of themes to draw upon for inspiration, and we’re very happy with the end result. Watch for the Candid Camper around town. And if you get the chance, climb in and say “cheese”.
