Delicious: Banowetz Creates New Branding for IMOTO

June 28, 2018 Wes Phelan
IMOTO_Header3.jpg

Culinary genius Kent Rathbun has done it again, launching a spectacular new dining and bar experience called IMOTO with his wife Tracy. Located in Victory Park, this upscale Asian restaurant is a flavorful signature showcase of Chef Rathbun’s take on Asian staples, traditional sushi and modern cocktails. With our history of working on successful restaurant concepts together, Banowetz + Company was invited back to the table to develop the branding for IMOTO. The B+C team crafted a series of sleek logo marks that fuse modern typography, bold splashes of color, and traditional Asian iconography, which made for dynamic signage and striking uniforms. The menus are wrapped in printed vinyl featuring art taken from the restaurant’s prominent wall mural, each one a unique piece of the overall image. Business cards were printed on decadent soft-touch heavyweight paper with an embedded hit of red for a look that makes a statement in any language.

Constructing a Brand: New Work for BufordHawthorne Luxury Home Builder

June 15, 2018 Wes Phelan
BH_Header.jpg

Barry Buford, co-owner of BufordHawthorne, recently approached Banowetz + Company to give his luxury homebuilding company a new look that more accurately reflected the high-end quality of their work. After learning everything we could about the company and their culture, B+C created the positioning line “Homes Crafted for Life”, and a strong typographic mark with an architectural feel to resonate with both architectural firms and discerning homeowners alike. We then designed a new website featuring case studies and custom photography of their seasoned team of craftspersons. The new brand was expanded to a direct mail campaign and print ads which showcased their superior workmanship, precision and attention to detail. Take a look at some of the final pieces below.

Candid Camper Logo: A snapshot of recent work

October 28, 2014 Wes Phelan
CndidCmpr_BlogPostHeader.jpg

Over the last several months, we’ve had a great time working with the talented guys over at Stash Design. (You may recall our blog about them last year.) They are responsible for the design of several Dallas hot spots such as Oddfellows, Bar Belmont and Chicken Scratch, and if you’ve visited any of these establishments, you’ve seen the results of their creativity in the interior design and finish out. Well, being the innovators they are, they came to us with a unique naming and branding project for a mobile photobooth, which they created using a re-purposed mid-century camper. Uh, fun! Not only is the photobooth itself incredible — the exterior is completely covered in patina-ed copper and the interior in reclaimed wood — but we love the concept as well. It will get great exposure being parked at special events, weddings, parties and happenings around town.

The client chose our proposed name, “Candid Camper”, which we think is perfect given the playful nature of the filmstrip-style photos and the fact that it is, well, a camper. We also just finalized the branding — take a peek at the options we proposed and the selected winner below. It was a fun project to work on, given the myriad of themes to draw upon for inspiration, and we’re very happy with the end result. Watch for the Candid Camper around town. And if you get the chance, climb in and say “cheese”.
