The Writing’s on the Wall (or Chalkboard): Shelton Stampede work pays off

March 27, 2015 Wes Phelan

Banowetz + Company recently took on a pro  bono project for Dallas’ Shelton School, helping them with branding and promotional materials for their annual fundraiser and live auction. Typically the event theme encompasses a “stampede” since the school mascot is a charger. This year’s theme was “Bringing the Stampede Home,” with the event to be held on school property in order to reduce overhead. It was to have a “truckyard chic” motif with food, drinks and decor in keeping with a laid-back, “Austin-cool” look and feel. We were tasked with the creation of a logo, invitation, raffle tickets, promotional materials and event signage that had a casual, yet trendy feel.

The chosen logo made appropriate use of a black chalkboard background, which became a common denominator that tied all of the elements together. Fun typography, texture and limited color gave the layouts a down-to-earth, cost-conscious look, while still appearing thoughtfully designed.

The raffle and live auction were a huge success, and we were thrilled to learn that our materials were well received. The school raised record-level funds which will go to enrich the education of the students at Shelton. All in all, we think the work turned out quite nicely and deserves an “A+.”

A Perfect Pairing of Art and Fashion: the NorthPark Spring campaign book

March 25, 2015 Wes Phelan

As part of the recently launched spring campaign for NorthPark Center, Banowetz + Company produced a perfect-bound book showcasing the stunning images that were utilized in ads as well as in special sections in several luxury publications. The images feature ensembles by fashion’s top designers set against masterpieces at the world-renowned Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth, shot in the iconic Louis Khan Building and the stunning new Renzo Piano Pavilion.

The images are a beautiful juxtaposition of art and fashion, old and new, featuring the lovely model Kate Bogucharskaia and new looks from Roberto Cavalli, Versace, Salvatore Ferragamo, Gucci, Valentino and other top fashion houses. The book was recently mailed to select zip codes in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and will be handed out at upcoming special events. Here’s a peek at the finished piece.

Hanging Out at Logo Lounge: Cheers to B+Co

February 17, 2015 Wes Phelan
Logo-Lounge_BlogHeader.jpg

When working on a logo design, one of the best resources for designers is LogoLounge.com. With the most comprehensive collection of logos available online (or anywhere), Logo Lounge makes it easy to see what’s already been done, to get inspired and to get a feel for current logo trends. They also publish a yearly design annual of the best work submitted from around the country (a great gift idea for the designer in your life!).

We, of course, subscribe to Logo Lounge and submit each of our logo projects after completion. So we were excited to see that Banowetz + Company was not only recognized as one of the top ten submitters of logos, but also as one of the top ten companies to have their work added to the lightboxes of other designers. It’s always a great feeling to have our work noticed by others in our industry. Since there are over 225,000 logos on the site, it’s pretty cool to know that ours are getting so much attention. Check out the article here.
