New addition: Meet numbers expert Annette Sosa

Annette Sosa: Bookkeeper + Office Assistant

We’d like to welcome our newest team member, Annette Sosa, who brings with her 12 years of accounting experience. Before joining our team, Annette worked at another creative firm where she spent a decade learning the ins and outs of agency life. After that, she did an intense stint working with a CPA, where she discovered that tax season makes agency life look sane. With her knowledge of the industry and her ability to work under pressure, she’s a great find.

At a glance, you’d never guess she grew up on a ranch in east Texas — or that she’s handy with a set of tools. But we’ve been told she can texture a ceiling with the best of them. She’s an avid sports fan who keeps up with the local teams and who’s playing what where on ESPN. The youngest of four kids, she’s very close to her family. She credits her mom with inspiring her to become an accountant. When she is not back on the ranch with her dad, she can be found doing her daily five-mile run, whipping up something in the kitchen, or rescuing an animal in need.

Annette prides herself in her ability to multi-task, problem solve and streamline. We know our clients will appreciate her thoroughness, and we’re happy to have another left brainer in the house to help balance us out and keep the office running smoothly.

Banowetz Fair Day: A tradition steeped in extreme rides, fried food and cold beer.

Fair Day. It’s a little sad, but some of us really do look forward to it all year long (okay, me). And it’s pretty predictable really – first a “hello” to Big Tex, a corny dog, beeline straight to the cheapest beer stand, a funnel cake, several deep-fried featured food items, the petting zoo, a chicken game and lastly the rides that only crazy people actually ride (yes, there are a few crazies among us).

But boy, do we love it and boy, is it fun. Goodbye, calorie counting, spinach salads and paleo diets. Hello, deep-fried goodness and an excuse to eat like there’s no tomorrow. It’s a great chance to let loose, leave the stress — and the deadlines — behind, if only for a few hours, and have some much-needed fun with our co-workers once a year (who BTW are actually a whole lot of fun when you get them out of the office), while enjoying a tradition as big as Texas. We only hope your fair day fared as well.

It’s hard to believe it’s already come and gone. The waiting begins...only 336 days to go.

Another Billion Dollars. Another Billion-Dollar Shoot.

October 16, 2013 Kris Murphy

No, the TV shoot didn’t cost a billion dollars. It was to celebrate a billion dollars. A billion dollars in sales for 2013, that is. For the second year in a row, Allie Beth Allman & Associates have reached $1 billion in sales. And this time, in just eight months!

Managing a shoot this big is a team effort, and Allen Davis, our senior account executive, and Leon Banowetz, owner and president of Banowetz + Company, were kept quite busy coordinating all the details leading up to the final shot and keeping things moving smoothly on set. Over 170 agents showed up for the shoot, which took place at MPS Studios in Irving where you can find the largest soundstage in the Dallas area (8,000 sf).

Photographer Jeremy Sharp was on site to capture some great stills of the group. And talented producer / director Michael Oleksinski shot plenty of B-roll that was edited into the 30-second TV spot by Fast Cuts Edits, which can be seen during the 10pm hour on local network channels (4, 5, 8 and 11). We hope you tune in to see the end result. It’s priceless.

Managing a shoot this big is a team effort. Much credit goes to Leon, Allen and everyone who helped make the shoot possible.
