Banowetz + Company Sinks Its Teeth into Landshark Branding

March 20, 2020 Wes Phelan

Banowetz + Company recently developed the branding for Landshark Express Wash & Detail, a fast and comprehensive automotive cleaning service based in Fort Worth, Texas. The Landshark development team wanted to create a streamlined car wash experience like no other, with retro-inspired architecture and a guest waiting area featuring a “shark tank” for kids and kids at heart. B+C developed the name Landshark, which implies tenacity and speed, and imagined the car wash as a gathering place for dirty, street-faring predators. To match the unconventional experience and memorable concept, an icon system of 30 sudsy, retro vehicles topped with shark-bitten surfboards was designed to emphasize the wide array of customer types they service, including the signature “woody wagon” as a family-friendly primary mark. Flowing with personality, the branding showcases a collection of overlapping illustrations and clever messaging applied to collateral, wearables, and customer swag. Finally, Banowetz + Company developed a comprehensive website to showcase the unique experience and capture the brand’s friendly, retro aesthetics.

In a sea of like-minded competitors, the Landshark brand is a prize catch.

A Tasty Texas Trio: B+C Branding for Delta Hotels by Marriott Dallas Allen

January 16, 2019 Wes Phelan
Stampede66_Header3.jpg

In the past year, Banowetz + Company partnered with Delta Hotels by Marriott Dallas Allen as they launched three food and beverage experiences at the new hotel and conference center. The flagship Stampede 66 is an evolution of celebrity chef Stephan Pyles’ well-known downtown restaurant, and B+C created updated menus, check presenters, signage, and business collateral using the established branding. To compliment the modern Texas cuisine, Banowetz + Company collaborated with Delta and interior partner Matchline to launch Canyon Bar. For this elevated watering hole, B+C designed a robust branding package of faceted, cowboy-inspired iconography and developed bar signage, coasters, and custom imprinted license plate menus. Last but not least, Banowetz + Company collaborated with Delta to launch Provisions66, a grab-and-go experience to offer the flavors of Stampede66 to guests on the go or in the comfort of their rooms. Inspired by road signage, the branding incorporates the orange and brown tones like Canyon Bar to connect with Stampede66. B+C designed signage, food labels, grab-and-go collateral, and a food labeling system that could be used consistently across all food packages. The result is a family of brands which each have their own identity and work together as a cohesive system.

El Vecino — East Dallas’ Friendly New Neighbor

November 20, 2017 Wes Phelan

At Banowetz + Company, we have bit of a soft spot for East Dallas, as many on our team call it home. East Dallas is a combination of friendly people, a beautiful lake and a close-knit community you can’t find anywhere else in the city. What has been lacking in the area, however, is incredible restaurants. This is where our most recent project comes in.

El Vecino, meaning “The Neighbor,” is the friendly culinary creation of Kim and John McBride. John is the great-grandson of the creator of El Fenix, Mike Martinez, who introduced Tex Mex to Dallas back in 1918. John was also very active in the NYC restaurant scene for many years and most recently, back in Dallas, has been the managing partner at The Lot, where he fell in love with the people of East Dallas. Wanting to embed themselves further into the community, he and his wife set out to open a neighborhood Mexican restaurant that would serve as a hub for East Dallas residents to relax with each other and enjoy great food and great drinks. And with that goal in mind, B+C collaborated with them on the branding for their new venture.

We designed a look and feel inspired by Old Mexico meets modern neighborhood kitchen. Utilizing a combination of brightly-colored floral oil-cloth patterns and distressed black and white graphics, we created a logo, stationery, website, menu, signage, and all sorts of other collateral for the restaurant. We also developed messaging that emphasized the welcoming hospitality of a good neighbor. As we expected, this new East Dallas resident is a big hit, and we’re excited to spend a few happy hours with them, sipping margaritas and downing delicious “True Tex Mex" dishes. Check out our work below, and make sure you check out El Vecino the next time you are in East Dallas, USA.
